Child safety
Plain English blind cord and chain safety
Blind cords and chains can be dangerous if they are left loose, especially around young children. Customers should use suitable safety devices and keep cords or chains out of reach.
Use safety devices
Where a blind uses a cord or chain, use the correct cleat, tensioner, breakaway connector, or retaining device supplied or recommended for that blind type.
Keep furniture away
Do not place cots, beds, sofas, toy boxes, or climbable furniture near blind cords or chains.
Check repairs carefully
When replacing slats, chain, or accessories, make sure any safety devices remain fitted and working correctly.
Ask before ordering
If a customer is unsure how a repair affects cord or chain safety, they should request guidance before using the blind again.
